Now that you've decided to upgrade your kitchen's appearance by refacing the cabinets, what's the next step? Do you want to simply renew their look or is it time to go in a completely different direction? If you aren't sure what you want to do or even what your choices are, you might want to visit a cabinet door depot.

Cabinet Door Depot: A Fashion Show for Cabinets

You've probably never heard of cabinet door depots, but with the wide array of door and drawer styles and finishes now offered by cabinet companies a door depot can make it easy to see what options are available for your project. A depot usually has drawer fronts and doors on display so you can compare pricing and finishes between different styles and get an idea of how they may look in your kitchen.

If you plan on using pre-finished doors for your refacing project, the finishes you see at a depot should be pretty close to what you'll receive if you order from that company. A DIYer who plans on doing their own staining or painting can see different door styles and construction methods and may even get some finishing ideas. A few places you can find cabinet door depots:

• Home centers such as Lowe's or Home Depot
• Cabinet manufacturer websites such as Merillat or American Woodmark
• Cabinet refacing supplies and parts companies' websites

Online cabinet door depots can be very convenient, but if you're planning on purchasing pre-finished doors and drawer fronts, you may want to order some finish samples as colors may be a little different than what you see on your computer's screen.
